My In Between

18 notes

I’m obviously not the first person to see this speech, but I still want to post about it. At first I wasn’t sure I could get into it because of how extreme his hand motions are and how much he moves around, but you do get used to it. Now I actually like it because it shows how genuinely passionate he feels about the issue. If I wasn’t already sure I was committing to veganism, there is no doubt at all now.

A lot of times vegans, especially new vegans, feel like they have to tiptoe around the issue of their veganism. Last I checked we were (don’t quote me on this) about 2.5% of the US population. Being a vegan is a lot like being an atheist in that simply having the belief can be viewed as an attack by those with different beliefs. Gary’s speech helped me to feel more secure and confident in my self and my decision to be vegan. I don’t need to be ashamed or feel like an inconvenience to people. I know that what I am doing is right, and I think I can be content just knowing that.

I’m not sure I could break into factory farms and be as brave and fearless as Gary, I think working at/owning a farm animal sanctuary might be in my future! If you watched it, what did you think? I would love to talk about this issue!
